SLOVENSKÉ ELEKTRÁRNE, A.S., ENO PLANT - 300M, 150M HIGH CHIMNEY AND ASH SILOS RECONSTRUCTION

After three months of intensive engagement of our four working teams we have completed a repair of emergency reinforced concrete defects on three high-rise buildings in SE, a.s., ENO plant. It concerned overall rehabilitation works of critically damaged areas of reinforced concrete on the highest chimney in Slovakia with a height of 300 meters and an area of about 18 000 square meters, as well as on 150 meters high chimney with an area of 4,500 square meters and three ash silos with a total area of approximately 3,000 square meters. And we had only the last three months of the year to complete these series of works. Therefore, we put almost all the equipment for reinforced concrete repairs as well as our best workers to work. Thanks to steady weather, we were able to finish the project including the aircraft obstruction marking coatings for chimneys just before Christmas and to full satisfaction of the customer. A successful replacement of cast-iron chimney (300 meters high) chase cover DURING OPERATION was a real technological piece de resistance which several members of the company as well as our competitors considered impossible. But we have always tried to push the limits of what is considered possible because this is what we like doing. It has been shown once again that optically quite preserved reinforced concrete on silos is, after removing loose parts, actually in a catastrophic state.
